The 2026 Ice Fishing Derby
Two-Day Event on Upper and Lower Sunshine Reservoirs February 13-15, 2026
Join us for the annual Meeteetse Ice Fishing Derby, a two-day event set against the stunning backdrop of Sunshine Reservoir and Lower Sunshine Reservoir. Anglers of all ages and skill levels are invited to take part in this exciting competition.
With cash prizes, friendly competition, and the chance to enjoy Meeteetse's winter beauty, this event is a must for fishing enthusiasts.
Tagged Fish (cash) Prize: A number of fish are caught, tagged and released before the derby each year. If an angler catches a tagged fish, they get a large prize.

Location: Upper & Lower Sunshine Reservoir outside of Meeteetse, Wyoming
Duration: Two full days of fishing action February 13-15, 2026

Let the kids join the frosty fun! The Youth Ice Fishing Derby is open to kids 17 and under—and it’s completely FREE. Watch your little anglers drill, drop, and (hopefully) catch their way to an unforgettable experience.

Schedule of Events
Each day fishing begins at 8am with measuring from 1pm - 3pm.
Friday February 13th, 2026
10 AM – 5 PM: Ice Fishing Derby Check-Ins / Calcutta at Ferret Den
Teams can sign up for the derby. Packets can be picked up and Calcutta units can be purchased.
5 PM – 10 PM: Ice Fishing Derby Check-Ins / Calcutta at the Elkhorn Bar & Grill

Saturday, February 14th, 2026
6 AM – 8 AM: Registration/check-in. There will NOT be any registrations after 8 AM
6 AM – 8 AM: Calcutta in the Ferret Den
8 AM: Fishing Begins at Upper Sunshine
1 PM - 3 PM: Derby judging at Upper Sunshine, at boat ramp/restrooms area.
6 PM: NRA Wall of Guns at the Elkhorn Bar & Grill
Sunday, February 15th, 2026
8 AM: Fishing Begins at Lower Sunshine
1 PM – 3 PM: Derby judging at Lower Sunshine, on the flat above the bathrooms.
2 PM: Fishing Ends- All fish must be measured by 3 PM
4 PM: Dinner and Raffle Begins at the Ferret Den
5 PM: (As soon as tabulated) Fishing Derby Results Announced

Discover Meeteetse is asking for your support for the 2026 Meeteetse Ice Fishing Derby. This event is Discover Meeteetse's largest fundraiser throughout the year and it brings in anglers from all over the country.
All proceeds from this event fund the visitor center's operational costs in Meeteetse.
Here are some ideas to support the 2026 Meeteetse Ice Fishing Derby:
Direct Support:
Volunteer: Offer your time to help with registration, setup, food service, or other tasks.
Donate: Contribute financially to the event, either directly or through a sponsorship.
Spread the Word: Share information about the derby on social media, through email, or by word of mouth. Encourage friends and family to participate.
Pledge a Tagged Fish (cash) Prize: A number of fish are caught, tagged and released before the derby each year. If an angler catches a tagged fish, they get a large prize. This pledge only requires payout from the sponsor IF a tagged fish is caught.
Indirect Support:
Participate: If you're an ice fishing enthusiast, sign up for the derby yourself.
